WHIPLASH exploded onto the U.S. metal scene in 1984, branding the East Coast with their original thrash sound. Their debut album, "Power And Pain," claimed its place in the thrash metal archives. WHIPLASH continues to bring old school thrash to a new generation of metal heads – THRASH 'TIL DEATH!
WHIPLASH burst onto the metal scene in 1984, offering their brand of original East Coast Thrash. Known worldwide for taking lightning speed metal on a neck-breaking ride. Commanding vocals, intricate guitar playing and masterful beats pack heat into EVERY energetic stage performance.
Tony Portaro, founding member of WHIPLASH, leads a lineup that delivers metal old school style. Portaro's unique vocals and thrashing riffs keep heads banging, while his intricate, soaring leads punctuate his solid songwriting.
Bassist Dank DeLong joined WHIPLASH in 2010.
He developed his bass style out of the 80's Metal/Hardcore/Punk scene in New York. An undeniable presence on stage, Dank's commanding backing vocals and powerful bass handling highlight a thunderous performance.
Ron Lipnicki’s thrash injection to WHIPLASH in 2018 would begin a new era for the band on Metal Blade Records. Hailing from New Jersey, Ron’s drum skills need no introduction, coming off a 12 year run with OVERKILL, and before that, hitting it with HADES. With his precision guns firing, Lipnicki obliterates the kit while setting rapid-fire pace! This is thrash – this is WHIPLASH thrash!
